Week 6 MVP - C. McIlvaine (Red)

Perhaps inspired by the start of the NBA finals, C. McIlvaine of RunNGun had a shooting performance on Thursday night that even Steph Curry would have been enviable of.  McIlvaine hit an unbelievable, record-setting 18 three-pointers and scored 54 points in his teams victory.  RunNGun is no stranger to offensive outbursts, as this is the third time a player has scored over 40 points this season.  McIlvaine will look to carry over his MVP momentum in to next week's highly anticipated match-up against six time defending champions, Bucket City.

E. Emedoh was the difference maker this week for "Ball Busters," who needed every one of his 33 points in their 82-81 victory over evenly matched "Team Supreme."  With the game outcome in the balance, Emedoh took over and scored his teams final 12 points and earned himself MVP honors for his clutch performance.  The win pushes "Ball Busters" over .500 and in to the third spot in the standings with two regular season games remaining.

NJ Men's Basketball League at Coastal Sports in Fairfield SEMIFINALS MVPS
 

After two highly competitive semi-final games on Tuesday, the championship bout between Moneyball (8-0) and MonStars (6-1) is set.  Moneyball advanced with a 70-62 victory and double-doubles from both T. Davis (18 pts, 11 rebs) and B. Bowen (14 pts, 10 rebs).  In the other semifinal action, MonStars staved off a furious 16 point comeback to hold on 56-55 over Untamed.  R. Schounnot led the way with 17 points and 15 rebounds with a strong complimentary effort from D. Kusnic, who chipped in with 7 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists.  Something will have to give in this classic battle of offensive firepower versus defensive prowess.  Moneyball scores at the second best rate in the league thanks to their well balanced offense featuring 8 different players averaging over 8 points per game.  S. Wilkins has been a strong catalyst of late, averaging 16 points over his last three games and will be a focal point of the opponents defensive game plan  Utilizing their size and strength, the Monstars held opponents to a league low 50 points per game as they attempt to live up to the "defense wins championships" billing.  Their front-court has an average height of over 6'3", enabling them to contest and limit other teams shot attempts.  The offense runs through their two point guards, A. Kelley and D. Kusnic, who combine to average just under 10 assists a game.  It is sure to be an exciting contest between two talented teams.  Who will take home the hardware and be crowned Tuesday night champs?

NJ Men's Basketball League at Coastal Sports in Fairfield QUARTERFINALS MVPS
 

Tuesday night kicked off the quarterfinal round of playoffs and while several players rose to the occasion , one performance stood out in earning this weeks MVP award.  D. Kusnic of team Monstars drove his opponents looney and advanced his team to the semifinals with an opening round victory.  Kusnic, performing his best Jason Kidd impersonation, messed around and almost got a triple double.  With the offense running through him, he consistently set up his teammates for easy buckets and finished with a league-high 11 assists.  He rounded out his stat line with 10 points and 8 rebounds and will look to carryover his MVP momentum next as the title chase continues.

NJ Men's Basketball League at Coastal Sports in Fairfield Week 4 MVPS (THURSDAY NIGHTS)

The Flint Michigan Tropics ended their 3-game losing streak on Thursday in large thanks to the play of E. Asfan.  While leading his squad to victory, Asfan had the hot hand and connected on 7 three-pointers and scored a game high 27 points to earn recognition as the week 4 MVP.  He rounded out his stat line with a season best 9 rebounds and an additional 2 steals and 1 assist.  Congrats on an outstanding performance and well-deserved award!

Ma. Tobin has increased his output in each week of the Thursday league, culminating in an MVP performance in week 3.  With a shorthanded team, he and his teammates rose their play to another level and come away with the impressive 99-91 win.  Matt led all scorers with 41 points while also grabbing 9 rebounds, handing out 7 assists and coming away with 2 steals.  After his award-winning effort, Tobin jumps to second in the league in scoring at 31.3 and holds a commanding lead in the assist category with 7 per game.  At a perfect 3-0, Run N Gun has established themselves as the early favorites to bring home this seasons championship trophy.

Week 5 MVP - W. Ensuncho (White)

"The BFC" carried the momentum of three consecutive wins in to their week 5 match-up against a talented "Trey & Pray" squad.  Ensucho had outstanding performances on both of ends of the floor, evidenced by his 16 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals.  Of those 16 points, none were bigger than the 4 straight he scored to break a tie game with under a minute to play and keep the win streak alive.  Up next for Ensucho & Co. is a showdown with undefeated "Money Ball" in a possible finals preview for the regular season finale!!

NJ Men's Basketball League at Coastal Sports in Fairfield Week 2 MVPS (THURSDAY NIGHTS)

A rare loss for Bucket City in week 1 resulted in a determined effort from the defending champs in week 2, led by an MVP performance from Braxton.  He put on a show for his fans, connecting on 7 three-pointers and pouring in 25 points in the first half.  His opponent did their best to stay in the game, continuously cutting double-digit deficits in to a one-possession game, but Braxton's scoring ability proved to be too much as he finished with a week 2 high of 38 to go along with 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

NJ Men's Basketball League at Coastal Sports in Fairfield Week 4 MVPS

Chris Khayat had already established himself as one of the premier scorers in the Tuesday Night league thanks to 30 and 28 points respectively in weeks 1 and 2; however, he managed to best those impressive numbers in his week 4 MVP effort.  Chris got things started early for "Untamed" with 17 points in the first half, mainly showcasing his ability to drive past defenders and finish at the rim.  As defenders compensated for that ability and sagged off in the second half, Chris calmly knocked down 5 three-pointers and tacked on an additional 20 points to finish with a season-high 37 and get his team a much needed win.  He will carry a 26.5 point per game average (tied for second in the league) in to the upcoming weeks as he and his teammates continue to push towards the playoffs!

Week 3 MVP - J. Walsh 

Team Headlocks is causing headaches for opponents so far this season thanks to their incredible outside shooting ability.  For the second straight game, over 65% of their points came via the three-ball, with a majority of the damage coming from the hot hand of Jon Walsh.  Walsh accounted for 7 of his teams 17 three-pointers and helped lead a second half comeback to push their record to 2-1.  His 23 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and 1 block earns him Week 3 MVP honors!  Looking forward to more action from Jon and the rest of his sharpshooting teammates as the season continues!!

NJ Men's Basketball League at Coastal Sports in Fairfield Week 2 MVPS

The dynamic duo of N. Marquez (left) and R. Cameron (right) led the way for "Trey & Pray" in their week 2 victory.  Marquez netted a game-high 32 points; catching fire from behind the arc for an outstanding 10 three-pointers.  Co-MVP, Cameron, showcased his ability to do it all, scoring 25 points, pulling down 12 rebounds, dishing out 6 assists, and consistently hounding the opposing ball handler to the tune of 5 steals.  MVP efforts like this from these two playmakers are a main reason why pink will be a color to fear in Tuesday basketball action for the remainder of the season.

Often its the offense that gets the MVP glory.   This week the Runnin' Rebels selected their defensive specialist, J. Weinberg, to win MVP after their 4-3 victory on Thursday Night.   

J. Raigoza earned the MVP by netting 3 goals and added 1 assist in team Internationals 5-3 victory at our Thursday Night Men's Soccer League.

S. Jennings from Prestige Worldwide scored 1 goal and had 1 assist in the teams 4-2 win.

C. Meneghetti from team Pitch Slap lead to charge with 2 Runs batted in, 2 runs scored, 2 singles, and a double in 9-0 victory at the Sunday morning coed softball league. 

J. Hahan of Blood, Sweat and Beers to a 21-8 victory with a home run, 2 runs scored and 1 run batted in. 

N. Fargo almost hit for the cycle. He was a HR shy. He also added in an RBI in the victory. 

R. Kypers had a well rounded date a the plate, scoring 3 runs, batting in 2 rubs, and 3 hits.

Congrats to our Sunday Coed Softball League Week 3 MVPs 

C. Nagy crushing the ball last week with 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored.  The Brew crew is off to a fast start a they have won each of their first three games. 

Another undefeated team, "Where my shaved pitches at" sends A. Colaneria to the MVP podium.  AC had a Grand Slam and 3 runs scored.  

Pitch Slap gets off the 0 win list with an exception performance from A. Manella. Manella drove in 5 runs and scored 4. She also hit 2 triples as well!
